Mother, May I? OWL-based Policy Management at NASA
نویسندگان
چکیده
Among the challenges of managing NASA’s information systems is the management (that is, creation, coordination, verification, validation, and enforcement) of many different role-based access control policies and mechanisms. This paper describes an actual data federation use case that demonstrates the inefficiencies created by this challenge and presents an approach to reducing these inefficiencies using OWL. The focus is on the representation of XACML policies in DL, but the approach generalizes to other policy languages.

Describing the P3P base data schema using OWL
This paper describes use cases and requirements for a privacy policy data schema. It describes problems with existing schemas in relation to these requirements (P3P 1.0, P3P 1.1 and RDFS schema for P3P). It proposes and motivates the use of an OWL schema to describe the same semantics, which fulfils all the requirements and may be used in a semantic web based privacy and identity management con...

Network management requires a lot of manual work. Due to ongoing growth of the Internet, more self-management is needed in order to deal with the growing complexity. Autonomic communication systems address this issue. Often, they make use of policy-based management systems. Policy-based management is an approach to simplify management by the use of rules. Policy refinement, i.e. breaking down h...
متن کاملAn analysis of spatial clustering and implications for wildlife management: a burrowing owl example.
Analysis tools that combine large spatial and temporal scales are necessary for efficient management of wildlife species, such as the burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia). We assessed the ability of Ripley's K-function analysis integrated into a geographic information system (GIS) to determine changes in burrowing owl nest clustering over two years at NASA Ames Research Center. Specifically, we u...
متن کاملThe optimal age-based replacement policy for systems subject to shocks
In this article, two different systems subject to shocks occurring based on a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) are analyzed. Type –I system is consisted of a single unit and type –II system is consisted of two parallel units in which both units operate identically and simultaneously. In type –I system occurrence of a shock causes system stopping and consequently will be received minimal r...
